Who is Vintagecans.com? My name is Dave Waugh. I'm located in North Attleboro, Massachusetts and am a member of the Beer Can Collectors of America (member #29712) and the BCCA's Pickwick Chapter. I began collecting beer cans in 1975. While taking a few years away from collecting during college I sold my first collection, but began collecting again in 1992 and have been going strong ever since. My passion is for ultra-clean New England cone tops (including quarts) and Narragansett cans. I also collect top-condition trays from New England and a few other odds and ends that may strike my fancy. I've always loved the clean stuff! I'm a collector first, but also enjoy the wheeling and dealing of cans, so I've tried to build a site that provides those things I like when collecting virtually: an uncomplicated shopping experience, more to look at than just trade inventory, and the opportunity to interact. I first began trading in breweriana online as a member of AOL in 1995 and started a Web site for baseball cards and beer cans in 1997. In 1997 I also began trading on Ebay. In 1999 I registered the domain for Vintagecans.com and put up its first incarnation. This version is the fourth design. Recent traffic reports indicate monthly page views at approximately 20,000, or about a quarter of a million annually. Besides online can trading, I was one of two graphic designers who worked on the BCCA's United States Beer Cans reference guide which was published in 2000. I've also been the design editor (art director) of the BCCA's bi-monthly magazine Beer Cans & Brewery Collectibles since 2001, and was the Pickwick Chapter newsletter editor from 2001-2005. On the online side of things, I work extensively on the BCCA and Pickwick Chapter Web sites and have designed beer can sites for several of the hobby's top dealers. Any time you want to chat about the great hobby of beer can collecting, feel free to drop me a line! (dwaugh@vintagecans.com) I'd love to hear from you! |
